I like to give my clients what I call “A Vertical Moment”.

Life moves horizontally at a rapid pace. We are constantly propelled forward by the daily demands and expectations that often keep us distracted from connecting to our personal values.  I give people permission to get off the treadmill, see where they are and what’s going on.

Initially, we will talk about where you are feeling stuck in your life or what you would like to work on.  The first few sessions will be focused on connecting with you and your experience while gaining a deeper understanding of your immediate concerns. I am a Psychodynamic therapist which means we will talk about the past and the events and relationships that have shaped your beliefs. Together we will acknowledge your own effective coping skills and identify where new skills could be beneficial.

I use psycho-education, mindfulness, reflection, EMDR, and collaboration with the client to create a sense of grounding.  In this way, the client learns how to modulate their own emotional experience in the room and set our pace.  My attunement to everything happening in the room allows me to check in with the client every step of the way.

The “Vertical Moment” is about giving clients relief, an expanded perspective, and ownership of what’s truly important.
